Eczema or Atopic Dermatitis

Atopic Dermatitis/ Eczema is a very common recurrent skin condition in childhood. Patients have dry, red and itchy plaques. There may be a personal or family history of atopy (allergic rhinitis, eczema, asthma or allergic conjunctivitis). Babies commonly present with rashes on the scalp and cheeks, which can then extend to the neck and skin folds of the elbows and knees. There are many possible triggers. 

Untreated eczema can lead to skin infections, skin thickening and a poor quality of life. Moderate to severe cases may be associated with allergies.
